The world famous Ingersoll brand has played an important part in the history of timepiece development. In1893 the first mass production of wrist and pocket watches was established by the Ingersoll brothers Robert and Charles in the USA. Prior to this watches required much more handcrafting and were therefore relatively expensive. High quality watches were produced at the reasonable price of $1.00 (a day’s wages at the time). The “Dollar Watch” or the “Yankee” (as it was respectfully called) changed the public’s aspiration to the possibility of watch ownership forever. In 1933 Ingersoll, working with the Walt Disney Company developed a watch with Mickey Mouse on the dial and the first character watch was born. This amazingly successful concept changed product marketing forever. Today Ingersoll is still producing high quality watches and clocks featuring Mickey Mouse and many of your other favorite Disney characters!
