Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Movement:
In 2010, Bulova introduced the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) torsional resonator quartz movement, a manufactured movement first used in Bulova’s Precisionist collection. Including a continuously sweeping second hand, the highly engineered Bulova Ultra High Frequency (UHF) movement achieves exceptional accuracy by using a unique three-prong torsional resonator quartz crystal, as opposed to the two-prong crystal of standard quartz. These specially cut crystals produce a vibrational frequency of 262 kHz, eight times greater than the 32 kHz of a standard quartz crystal, thereby splitting each second into smaller, more precisely measured intervals.
This high-performance movement was later extended to the new Bulova Accutron II series, reflecting the technological heritage of the original Accutron. The Bulova Ultra High Frequency movement is currently slated to be used in future collections within the Bulova brand, in addition to the Bulova Accutron II designs. Starting in 2015, all watches featuring these movements will be identified by the vibrational frequency indicated above the 6 o’clock position on the dial – 262 kHz.
For over 135 years, Bulova has stood proudly in the vanguard of American innovation. A pioneering force in the industry since opening a small store in Lower Manhattan in 1875, Joseph Bulova transformed how watches were worn and how time was perceived. An independent thinker alert to the era’s risk-taking ethos, Bulova presented one innovation after another, establishing a dedication to creativity and change that endures to the present day.
Paced by its exquisitely crafted diamond watches, meticulously engineered self-winding mechanicals, Bulova Precisionist with a continuously sweeping second hand and the innovative architectural lines within the high-performance Marine Star collection, Bulova’s diverse selection encompasses classic and contemporary styling and technology, priced at moderate levels to reach a broad range of consumers.
