Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Movement:
In 2010, Bulova introduced the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) torsional resonator quartz movement, a manufactured movement first used in Bulova’s Precisionist collection. Including a continuously sweeping second hand, the highly engineered Bulova Ultra High Frequency (UHF) movement achieves exceptional accuracy by using a unique three-prong torsional resonator quartz crystal, as opposed to the two-prong crystal of standard quartz. These specially cut crystals produce a vibrational frequency of 262 kHz, eight times greater than the 32 kHz of a standard quartz crystal, thereby splitting each second into smaller, more precisely measured intervals.
This high-performance movement was later extended to the new Bulova Accutron II series, reflecting the technological heritage of the original Accutron. The Bulova Ultra High Frequency movement is currently slated to be used in future collections within the Bulova brand, in addition to the Bulova Accutron II designs. Starting in 2015, all watches featuring these movements will be identified by the vibrational frequency indicated above the 6 o’clock position on the dial – 262 kHz.
